Research, counsel and training in Geoenergy; creation and validation of new methods and improvement of the existent ones, in order to explore and use the earth energy resources; to evaluate and enhance the experimental data quality.
Educate students from bachelor~Rs degree to doctor~Rs degree, through thesis counsel, courses, etc. Encourage their links with science through their participation in international and national forums. Divulge the research achievements through conferences.

Research lines:

1. Geological methods for the exploration of energy resources, remote sensing, GIS.
2. Geophysical methods: seismology applied in porous media, gravimetry for detection of favorable structures to the formation of geothermal reservois of magmatic chambers.
3. Geochemical methods: statistical analytical geochemistry; analytical geochemistry of liquids; major element modeling; instrumental analytical geochemistry; hydrogeochemistry.
4. Petrological methods: experimental petrology; water rock interaction, trace element modeling.
